DropBright® MAP is a stable, water-soluble derivative of Vitamin C designed for enhanced penetration and stability. It is hydrolyzed by skin phosphatase into active ascorbic acid, providing excellent whitening and antioxidant properties. Unlike pure Vitamin C, MAP is highly stable against light, heat, and oxidation, making it ideal for skin-brightening, anti-aging, and photoprotective formulations.

INCI Name: Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate
CAS Number: 113170-55-1
Molecular Formula: C12H10Mg3O18P2
Function: Whitening, Antioxidant
EWG Score: 1 (Low Hazard)

Benefits

  1. Whitening and Brightening:

    • Effectively inhibits melanin production by blocking tyrosinase activity.
    • Demonstrates significant reduction in melanin synthesis by up to 90% at concentrations as low as 1%.
  2. Antioxidant Protection:

    • Scavenges free radicals and prevents oxidative damage to the skin.
    • Protects skin from UV-induced lipid peroxidation and inflammation.
  3. Collagen Production:

    • Promotes collagen synthesis, improving skin elasticity and reducing signs of aging.
  4. Highly Stable:

    • Remains active for over 12 hours in the cuticle, providing long-lasting effects.
    • Resistant to environmental factors like light, heat, and oxygen.

Suggested Usage

  • Concentration: 1%–3%
  • Applications:
    • Skin-brightening creams and serums.
    • Anti-aging and photoprotective skincare.
    • Repair formulations for UV-damaged skin.
  • Method of Incorporation:
    • Add at the end of the manufacturing process at temperatures below 45°C.
    • pH of the finished product should be around 6.5.

Features

  • Superior penetration into basal layers of the epidermis, up to 8x more than Vitamin C.
  • Converts to active ascorbic acid after absorption.
  • Prevents skin oxidation and promotes barrier protection.
