DropBright® DL-MA is a gentler alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) specifically designed for sensitive skin. Derived from aromatic compounds, mandelic acid has a larger molecular weight than other AHAs like glycolic acid, allowing for slower skin penetration and reduced irritation. It offers whitening, anti-acne, and exfoliation properties, making it ideal for various skincare applications. Its ability to inhibit tyrosinase activity and promote mild exfoliation helps even skin tone and reduce post-inflammatory pigmentation (PIH).

INCI Name: Mandelic Acid
CAS Number: 90-64-2
Molecular Formula: C8H8O3
Function: Whitening, Anti-Acne, Exfoliation
EWG Score: 1 (Low Hazard)

Benefits

  1. Whitening Properties:

    • Effectively inhibits tyrosinase activity, reducing melanin synthesis and brightening skin tone.
    • EC50 value of 0.274 mg/mL for tyrosinase inhibition.
  2. Anti-Acne Efficacy:

    • Antibacterial properties combat acne-causing bacteria and prevent future breakouts.
    • Reduces active acne lesions and post-acne pigmentation with minimal side effects.
  3. Gentle Exfoliation:
